In Pakistan, over a million deaf children are of school-going age, yet less than 5% have access to education.

For more than 35 years, Deaf Reach has given Deaf children in Pakistan access to quality, sign language-based education, digital learning, vocational training, and pathways to employment — through the country's only nationwide network of schools for the Deaf, the largest of its kind in Asia. Deaf Reach UK, a program of Deaf Education Initiative, connects UK donors with the chance to transform Deaf children's lives across Pakistan. We believe every Deaf child deserves the chance to learn.

Parent Training

Through the Parent Training Program, parents are provided with training in Pakistan Sign Language (PSL). This initiative empowers parents, enabling them to establish stronger connections and effective communication with their Deaf children while actively participating in their child’s development.

Teacher Training

Our Teacher Training Program ensures that all our educators are well-equipped to meet the unique learning needs of our students by regular trainings. In addition to building capacity in local teachers of the Deaf, we also work on developing new student teacher trainees. Over 50% of Deaf Reach teaching staff are deaf.

Digital Sign Language Resources

Deaf Reach has leveraged digital technology to document Pakistan Sign Language (PSL), producing the first-ever 7,500+ word PSL dictionary, PSL curricular resources, stories, and teacher training tutorials. Our PSL Learning Portal, the first resource of its kind in Pakistan, provides country-wide access to these educational resources for the Deaf, their teachers and families free of cost.
